The prepared Spark Challenge pack

What is the Spark Challenge play pack?

Spark Challenge is a creative play pack being developed for children aged 6–11. It offers three playful challenges in which children can build, experiment and find their own solutions using simple materials. Adult preparation and supervision are required, while parents can share in the joy of discovery.

We bring together the materials, guide and Challenge Card, with a few surprise elements to discover. We do not provide ready-made solutions: your child's ideas determine what takes shape. There is no single correct answer, and the challenges do not need to be completed against the clock.

How does the Founding Tester opportunity fit in?

Behind Spark Challenge is an idea for a separate, future game. The play experiences shared during this first edition will help us understand how the concept behind that later game works in practice.

During this early phase, families can also take part as Founding Testers: when the child has attempted all three challenges and a parent submits the Playtest Report, the family receives Founding Tester recognition and a certificate. If the future game is released, Founding Testers will also receive a discount towards purchasing it. Details of the type and value of the discount will be shared later.

Full participation details are provided in the guide.

This is optional. You can buy and enjoy the pack simply for play, without taking part in the programme.

The play pack is still being prepared. Join the waiting list to hear about its release and changes to the pack. Joining is free, does not reserve a pack and does not commit you to a purchase.

Don’t want to wait for the play pack?

Although the Spark Challenge pack mainly uses items familiar from everyday life, offering them together as a children's game requires a thorough safety and compliance process to protect children. That process takes time and involves significant costs.

You do not have to wait for the prepared pack to become part of the Founding Tester phase supporting a different, future game. Buying the Founding Tester Guide and Challenge Card lets your family begin now, using household materials you prepare yourself.

The guide and card contain three open-ended challenges and guidance for parents. To secure your family's Founding Tester recognition, your child must attempt all three challenges and you must submit the Playtest Report. Buying the publication is the starting point; recognition follows your contribution.

Founding Tester Edition

Enjoy the play. Share what you discover.

Spark Challenge began as a way to explore an idea behind a different, future game. During the Founding Tester phase, your family's play experience can help us examine that idea and inform the later game's development.

After your child has attempted all three challenges, submit a Playtest Report to earn Founding Tester recognition and a certificate. Completing every challenge successfully is not required.

Full details of how to earn Founding Tester status are provided in the Founding Tester Guide (the brochure).

Buying either format alone does not grant Founding Tester status. Reporting is optional: you can simply enjoy the play. The title recognises your contribution and carries no ownership or financial interest in either game or the project.

Behind the project

As a parent myself, the world our children and grandchildren are growing up in matters deeply to me.

When I see how much time children spend using digital devices, it worries me to think that their own imagination, independent thinking and the joy of discovery could gradually take a back seat. I want my grandchildren — and other people's children too — to experience how a few simple objects and their own ideas can become whole adventures.

An idea for a game came to me, and it completely captured my imagination. I have tried many things in my life, but I have never felt such a strong personal connection to a goal as I do to this one. Spark Challenge is one step along that path.

I do not pretend to have all the answers. That is why families' real experiences, honest opinions and perspectives that challenge my ideas matter to me.
